This is a small fenced cemetery containing four gravestones located off Citadel Road near the intersection of I26 and US601 in Orangeburg, South Carolina

Washington Postell Larr
WASHINGTON POSTELL LARR / was born Oct 31st 1837 and /
departed this life on the 11th of / June 1861. At the first call of hi[s] /
state he attached himself to the / 1st Regiment of S.C. While on /
Morris Island he was attacked by / a fatal disease which ended his /
earthly career. Thus he fell a / martyr for the cause of his stat[e.] /
He had been a member of the / M. E. Church for 10 years "He now /
rests from his labors." / "There remaineth therefore a / rest for the people of God." /
"Happy spirit thou art fled, / Where no grief can entrance find; /
Lulled to rest the aching head, / Soothed the anguish of the mind; /
Every tear is wiped away, / Sighs no more shall hurt thy breast; /
For night is lost in endless day, And sorrow in eternal rest." |
