An Archaeological Pub Crawl of Great Britain

October 16 - 28, 2000

Our trip was organized by Far Horizons as Through the Glass Darkly - An Archaeological Pub Crawl of Great Britain. The itinerary was well planned and most enjoyable.

Our trip leader was Clive Warsop, an environmental archaeologist and lecturer in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh. He had received his MA in Archaeology with honors and was completing his MSc. in Environmental Archaeology and Paleaoecology. Clive's work on sites dating from the Neolithic to Roman periods in both the United Kingdom and France mads him an extraordinarily knowledgeable leader. His quirky sense of humor made him a most enjoyable traveling companion.

Edinburugh CastleTuesday, October 17 - Gifford, Scotland

When we arrived in Edinburgh, Clive was there to meet us and we met our travling companions _ and _ who unbeknownst to us had accompanied us all the way from Houston. We were tired, but knowing we needed to adjust to the time change we spent the afternoon at Edinburgh Castle before moving on to our overnight accomodations at the Tweeddale Arms Hotel in Gifford, about eighteen east of Edinburgh.
