This Samuel appears only in only two places. In 1781 he appears on the Pay abstract for Capt. Samuel Rowe's Copany of the Orangeburgh Militia along with John and Jacob Rickenbacker. He also appears in the 1820 census aged 45+ years. Because of the militia service he was likely born before 1765. I think he is probably the son of Heini Rickenbacher and Anna Till and I've placed him as born abt. 1760 in the gap between Ann Catharina and Jacob. There is somewhat lesser probability that he was the son of Hans Heinrich.

In the 1820 census, Samuel is the sole white person in a household of 29 slaves.
